The American singer, songwriter, graphic designer, and music producer Chaz Bear is often regarded as a pioneer of the chillwave subgenre in the 2010s, whose sound still influences musicians today. Since then, his music has explored many different styles. Through nine albums, we've heard psychedelic rock, deep house, British hip-hop, R&B, and much more, all without losing the iconic, bright, and shimmering Toro y Moi feel.
As a songwriter and producer, he has worked with artists like Tyler, The Creator, Flume, Travis Scott, and HAIM. Now, the artist is touring with his freshly released album Hole Erth.
Hole Erth, Chaz Bear’s eighth album as Toro y Moi, is his most unexpected and boldest yet. The album explores rap-rock, SoundCloud rap, and Y2K emo, combining pop-punk with auto-tuned melancholic rap. Featuring guest appearances by Don Toliver, Kevin Abstract, Lev, and Benjamin Gibbard, Bear creates a new, dynamic soundscape. The album reflects Bear’s abilities as a producer in hip-hop and electronic music, exploring new emotional themes such as teenage angst in songs like "Tuesday" and "HOV." With its playful ambition and constant drive for evolution, Bear demonstrates that Toro y Moi is a musical chameleon, constantly challenging and reinventing itself.
This concert is organized by FKP Scorpio.
