The cocktail of sparkling disco, pop, and 80s synth that Sophie Ellis-Bextor took to the top of the charts with the massive hit ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’ in 2001 may be heard everywhere now, but back then, the British artist was a pioneer. It was music that was as danceable as it was melodically irresistible; as smart as it was immediate. Now, over two decades have passed since her debut album Read My Lips was released, but Sophie Ellis-Bextor has managed to maintain her relevance.
After the hugely successful debut, she followed up with two equally fantastic albums, Shoot from the Hip (2003) and Trip the Light Fantastic (2007). Both records refined and renewed the kind of elegant electronic dance-pop that Sophie Ellis-Bextor had come to be associated with. But Ellis-Bextor, who began her career as the frontwoman of the Britpop band theaudience, wanted something else. A collaboration with the icon Ed Harcourt began with Wanderlust (2014), where the disco aesthetic was replaced by a potent hybrid of folk and orchestral indie-pop. Since then, Ellis-Bextor has released three more albums, with yet another, The Invisible Line, set for release in 2025. On October 4th, Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be performing at Fållan in Stockholm! Tickets will be released on Friday, February 21 at 10:00 AM.
The concert is organized by Luger.
