Skunk Anansie formed in 1994 in London and quickly became one of the UK's most celebrated bands; a band that stood out in the 90s music scene – too heavy for the then-dominant Britpop scene, with more in common with the American grunge and alternative rock wave, featuring artists like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Rage Against the Machine.

With a unique sound that cut through the British music landscape – a wild, dirty, and political sound that frontwoman Skin dubbed "clit rock" – they went on to inspire a wave of feminist bands that stood up against the male dominance in rock music. At the same time, while Skunk Anansie established themselves as one of the world’s most captivating live acts, they released a series of critically acclaimed albums in the 90s, culminating in headlining the Glastonbury Festival in 1999.

After taking a break in 2001, Skunk Anansie returned in 2009 and since then, they've released three new albums – most recently, the critically praised Anarchytecture in 2017. Earlier this year, however, they released brand-new music in the form of the single "An Artist is an Artist."
