Primal Scream, the legendary Scottish rock band that revolutionized the music landscape with their groundbreaking album Screamadelica, are now making their much-anticipated comeback with their new album Come Ahead. Don’t miss one of the most influential groups in the music world when they take the stage at Fållan in Stockholm on June 5.
Primal Scream, the Scottish rock band, was formed in 1982 by singer Bobby Gillespie and guitarist Jim Beattie in Glasgow. The band started in indie pop but quickly evolved into one of the UK’s most versatile and influential groups, known for blending rock, psychedelic elements, dance, and electronic music.
Their major breakthrough came with Screamadelica (1991), a pioneering album that combined acid house, dance beats, and rock. The album won the very first Mercury Prize and made Primal Scream a central act in the British rave and Madchester scenes.
Despite several lineup changes, Gillespie has remained the band’s creative core. Longtime members like Robert "Throb" Young (guitar) and Mani (bass, also known from The Stone Roses) have contributed to the group’s sound over the years.
Their latest album, Come Ahead, was released on November 8, 2024. The album marks their return after an eight-year hiatus and features a fusion of funk and soul influences. Produced by David Holmes, Come Ahead is considered one of Bobby Gillespie’s most personal works, addressing themes of conflict and resilience. The album has received positive reviews, with MOJO magazine describing it as “a Philly disco-influenced highlight in the middle of their career.”
Primal Scream has had a massive impact on several music genres, and their unique mix of rock and dance music has inspired countless artists. The band is a symbol of creative boundary-pushing and musical innovation.
The concert is organized by All Things Live.
