If someone had tried to pitch a marching band dressed uniformly in red, whose idea is to play techno using only drums and brass instruments, ten years ago, it's doubtful anyone would have been interested. The concept is as unlikely now as it was then, but the Germans in the band MEUTE have shown that it was more than just a crazy idea. Their orchestrated interpretations of techno are true to the genre's minimalism and hypnotic drive while maintaining the expressiveness and dynamics of brass music. The 11-member live ensemble is led by trumpeter Thomas Burhorn, and among the instruments, you'll find various saxophones, snare drum, bass drum, trombone, trumpet, shakers, and marimbas. The songs they play are a mix of original material blended with classics such as Laurent Garnier's 'The Man With The Red Face,' Disclosure and Flume's 'You & Me,' and Dennis Ferrer's 'Hey Hey.'
MEUTE went viral in 2016 after their cover of Âme's 'Rej' and performed 150 concerts in just their first two years. Since then, the band has toured the world extensively, playing in clubs, festivals like Coachella, and even on the streets, sometimes without any electricity at all. With their latest album 'EMPOR' in tow, it's time for MEUTE to bring their equally eccentric and danceable show to Sweden!
This concert is organized by Luger.
